Its Alive!!!
Hey guys, good and bad news on the homefront over here.
1. Bad News - Of course for you football fans out there, the broncos lost, DAM IT!!! TO THE RAMS!!! DOUBLE DAM IT.
2. GOOD NEWS - The Z took its first breath of good ol' air yesterday, and fired and ran. Took it out for a spin a little while later, (with no hood, Rod said i was ghetto, but whatever, muscle car guys do it all the time).
The car runs well. I havent gotten it down to the local Big O to get it aligned, so it was all over the road. So, didnt dare take it over 35 driving around, but it felt good driving it again. It dosent even bounce anymore, wow, cant believe it.
One minor thing, it has a small backfire sometimes when shifting. When i get home later, i am going to re check the valve clearence, and the timing, but if anyone else has a suggestion, throw it out there. Also, i need to procure some lug nuts, lets not go into why, lets just say each wheel only has three right now. No freeway driving till i get four.
If anyone knows where i can get some, it would be a big help...
Anyway, thanks for all the support guys, its good to know there are fellow z car people out there...
Take care,
bob
Merry Early X-mas to me...

Thanx everybody. I appreciate all the support i got from the site. Cant wait to get all the bugs worked out. Like that little back fire it has.
Anyway, never thought i would say this, but, i hope the Raiders win. I live with a charger fan, and just cant hack them being in first place.
So, we'll see what happens....

Hey Bob congrats on getting the Z running!
It was really worth it, wasn't it? Man I remember the day, back in Feb., when a great individual on here, got my Z running. I was so estatic, it was unreal. Good job bro', and great skills too. I am looking forward, when I successfully rebuild an L28.
And you need lugnuts? I know in the past, I got them at Autozone. I am sure if you hit up the local parts places, your bound to find some. I will give you the size of the wheelbolts, to hopefully get you on the right track. 12 x 1.25. That is the size I found that worked for my '82 280zx wheelbolts. Should help in sizing your lugnuts also.

Thanx for the props WildMan. You know, once i got into it, i actually enjoy engine building. Its something that if i had the chance, i wouldnt mind doing a lot more. Thanx for the lug nut size, just dont want to be hot roddin' all over town with the wheels all just riding on three nuts a piece.
The exhaust leak is coming from the back, i actually have a hole in the muffler, so, that would probably explain it. I took my dad out in it last night, and he said thats probably what it is too.
Also, my car seem to be doggin a little bit when it was cold. My toyota does the same thing, but i just wanted to know if this was common thing. I was trying to push it a little bit before it was up to regular opperating temp. It seemed like it just didnt want to go as hard as i know it can.
Thanks again everybody....
