Got spark and fuel but no start

82 280zx na 5 spd 2+2

I have spark going to each plug and I have fuel. I have the firing order just like the chilton book says. It turns over but will not crank. It pops a little out of the intake. Do you think it is my timing? Any help is appreciated.
thanks

Timing or firing order is off (if you really do have spark & fuel)... Is your rotor in you cap facing forward at TDC?

well i know that i have spark because i checked all six wires at the plug. (idiot test---each one shocked the hell out of me) Also as far as fuel, one of the rubber tubes that connects the injector into the fuel rail was loose and leaking. I tightened it up and there was a lot of pressure behind it.
tonight i will check the position of the rotor.
it can't be much. just looking for some direction on where to start. the guy that usually works on my nissans is backed up 2 weeks.
thanks

Is this a problem that just happened one day? Or was something being done to the car when this happened? Could just be that your fuel injectors aren't firing. Just cause you have fuel going to the injectors doesn't mean they are spraying.

I was thinking the same thing J-fair mentioned, but to be different I will say check the position of your distributor, if it came loos it could be off a bit.

I fixed the problem. I had arranged the plug wires in the exact order that the chilton book said and it still would not crank. I used the firing order that I found on this site and it started right up. I know that you guys are thinking "i told you so".
Anyway thanks a lot for the help and this site is the best of the z sites.

One more thing I think that it is running a little rich.

Wahoo! If you think it's running rich, get an air/fuel gauge & you can tune the AFM. By the way... running a lil rich isn't bad.

Sounds like the firing order pic I posted...that was from good old fashioned "damn, I am stuck!! Better call my friend thats 270 miles away and ask him how his plugs are hooked up on his Z" Just save that pic somewhere on your PC man, like I was told on here when I posted it, "it is always good to have a reference of your own"
