fumes while driving

Hi,

I know this is a common problem with z cars, but does anyone know how to improve the contents of the fumes to make it less contaminating so we don't get so much pollution inside the car while driving? Which parts need to be replaced that may help reduce the contamination of the fumes. I have another newer Nissan Altima, that doesn't smell so bad like my z.
Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I have an 82 280zx n/a coupe with 164k miles all original and very well kept.

the shifter boots, and maybe the rear end tail ligt seals ( heard some people say exhaust is coming in from the back tailights)

Thank you. Just wondering why for God's sake my mechanic never mentioned the oxygen sensor, that makes sense. Thanks again
