Turbos first appeared in '81, with the P90 head and dished pistons. As for exhaust Q&A, I would reccomend going to your local exhaust shop. I've had a bit of difficulty finding info and what I'm looking for online, so I asked Master Muffler down the street from me, and they could hook me up with a 2.5" exhaust, a high-flow cat (brand unsure), and a Flowmaster for $165. I think it's a good deal. I know most basic auto shops will do a simple cat-back system for $39.99 and up, if you're looking more for sound than performance.

Hope this helps,
-Dave

Edited for smooth flow, grammar corrections, and overall information confirmation.

well im runnin stock exhaust with a high flow cat(brand unknown) and a single chamber flow master with one outlet, and i must say that it sounds pretty nice, kinda got a muscle sound to it at idle, and it allows great airflow and accelerating tone is nice and throaty without all that rice burner gay ****...and plus the decelleration note is perfect (flowmaster trademark) with a nice hum

Is there any type of cat back or atleast muffler setup that will work good on a turbo. I have limited $ at the moment so just need something cheap temporarily?

Anything more open than the stock getup should be fine. You won't see or feel much gain with just a rear section or a muffler (it's all just sound), and just about any exhaust you get will be a cat-back, unless you splurge for a nice header and high-flow cat.

I suggest saving up your money and do it right, the first time. This old addage (sp?) is true - "If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you be able to do it over?"
Hint: this is why my Z is STILL on jackstands, after 6 months ...

Hope this helps,
-Dave

What kind of cat did you get and wich model and size flowmaster. I would imagine I would be better off with a larger diameter muffler with a turbo?

Do not put a flowmaster on a turbo car. Totally different beast than a NA setup. For a turbo setup go 3" all the way back to a straight thru muffler. No chambered mufflers on turbo cars.

i understand that the mufflers will hinder performance by a slight bit, but there is such thing as being too loud in upscale neighborhoods....(i grew up in ghetto...im like a fish outta water...but whitey among whites, i guess i just blend), so i have to get a muffler, also i wouldnt run a cat at all if it werent for these pollution laws and whatnot, i wanna run twin turbos to a 3.5" straight pipe no muffler..but the single chamber flowmaster will do for now, i dont know what model but its got a 2 1/4" pipe single in single out..with a standard issue cat...just one more year, and all that **** is getting ripped off...

also, i run nothing but supreme through my car as to help with those emissions, and besides, these cars seem to Love that premium gasoline...i go through it like its nothing, thats what jobs are for....i also invest every fill up on a thing of octane booster just for alil somethin extra..

Its a myth that high octain or booster will give a stock motor more power. If it doesn't ping, then you're getting max power for your setup. But if you like to run premium go ahead. I would suggest you don't bother with booster.

i know the high octane doesnt really provide for more power, i just try to keep my gas and my engine as clean as possible, if i had a hookup on 100 id get that..but oh well, i run supreme cuz its clean..and i put octane booster to help clean off the **** that is currently on there if any at all... thats my logic, i dont think of octane booster=power booster, youd have to be nuts to go around thinking that

most of the power that is actually gained from additives and premium gas is just power lost over time from deposites and ****, and cleaning it all off will restore it...yes premium will give your car maybe acouple of points, but i use it to keep my car clean...

I run a staight 21/2 to a flowmaster mini turbo. i have no cat cause the y dont have emmissions in idaho. I love the sound it is more rumble and throaty instead a lawnmower. It is nice at 3000 RPM on the interstate. it also does not **** off the neighbors.
