Just like every other "can it be done?" question:

Yes, if you have enough skill and money. IS IT WORTH IT? is the question you should be asking.

Its been done with a 240z, so you know it'll fit. Have fun with the electrical and computer systems though.

Just watch turbo clearances to the rails, if you are going to use low side mount turbos, I'd prefer a big single BB turbo myself though. Plenty of engine bay room otherwise.

That seems to be the easier / better way to go these days. A lot of 2JZ Supra & RB guys (diff motor, similar concept) convert to one big turbo.

they also got it easier because its an inline, and the supra was sequential dont know if the skyline was... dont think it was. and sequential though a good idea, never worked out really well, so it makes more sense to just go big there. just like the RX-7, FD at least.

supra engines have been basically one of the best HP rendering import engines, but how can you put a toyota in a nissan. i say if you have the money go RB26DETT or VG30DET(T)

$6,000? I got three words for ya...(Small Block Chevy). Get yourself a small block Chevy V8 and put the edlebrock pro flo EFI TB intake on it then twin turbo it. Should be easy to do as V8 swaps are common with parts available, small blocks are vast in numbers and a little more than half your money can go to the intake, exhaust and turbos.

1.2l 3 cyl from a Subaru Justy. 55MPG. gas mileage and performance do not go together well.

really though, i suppose it depends on what kind of power you want. "BEST, FASTEST" are subjective terms. figure out your needs, and then you can narrow down your options. you should also take into account ease and cost of making whatever you chose fit. people have crammed Viper engines into Z's, and even jet turbines, but it certainly wasnt cheap or easy.

it will be much more effective to list your requirements initially. then you wont get as many recommendations that dont fit what your needs.

RB25DET stock is what you want. Drop that in there, get a new turbo, get it tuned up and running well. Then see if you even have $20 left for a couple gallons of gas. Anything else and you'll end up overbudget before its on the road.

...or the super cheap L28et...

or tune up the stock non-turbo L28. Put a 3.54 rear gear in it. You'll get 30 or more mpg on the highway.

I have VQ35DE(got the whole swap for dirt cheap cause the wrecked Z was blocking dudes garage for his Porsche) is going in right now and its taking some time (6 months so far for me)and there is alot of fab to go along with it. It all depneds on what you want and if you got the fab skillz to pull it off or know someone. The more extreme swap is gonna take patience and money. I think an RB25DET is a good route I was gonna do that, actually bought the motor and came across the the 350Z deal. The RB gonna cost like 2500 and if you want a shop to drop it in its gonna cost you 4k or save that 4k and put it in yourself.
