it can be done, but it'd be pointless due to cost factors. Expect the engine/tranny combo to run about 10k or more.

Buy a track 350Z (LSD rear) and then strip all the crap off of it to lower the weight. Take out your air bags and extra glove compartments ect. Then bolt on the intake and exhaust kits that are already available. It'll be a mid 13 sec car just like that! At a total cost of about $30,000

That same VQ35 is in the Altima, Maxima, and some Nissan trucks. The 350Z has a different intake and exhaust, and maybe a different computer... if you got one of those other engines they are supposed to produce 240-260hp compared to the 287hp of the Z.

Sure, a mid 13 sec. 350z is possible, but that's a lot of money spent to make a drag racer. If one was to build a drag racer, one would want to start with a better chassis that's lighter or at least has a more powerful powerplant. ie. 4th ls z28 camaro. or, plop a 350 into a 240z

my friend has a g35 and he is building a new engine to drop into it and he said he will sell for cheap or maybe even give me his current 3.5 if i promise to put it in my 240z. plausible? anyone know of anyone who has done this before?

I believe someone documented their swap on hybridz, don't know about mounts though. You may have to make your own or contact them for specifics.
