I bet she is happy about that.
Yep, it's a 27mm. It worked GREAT, I couldn't find any impact sockets that big, I just used a normal one. Took about two seconds with the impact wrench, I did even have to hold on tight. Just pulled the trigger twice really quick and it broke loose (no crank movement at all) After I did that I took the A/C (radiator) off to make more room. He hasn't had it wooked up for years and there was no pressure or fluid on it. Its wide open now.
Got the front cover off, I had to use two peices of wood and about 30 wacks in different areas and slowly worked it off. The new tensioner it in and now I have to put the cam sprocket on. I tryed for about 30 minutes but it wouldn't go on. I'm going to heat to up alittle with the heat gun and try again.

Update: Cam sprocket is on and torqued down. Cleaning gasket surfaces to put it all together.

I post again (silly face, why don't the faces work for me?). My girl friend brought food over, so I ate and fell asleep for a few hours. hehe
Anyways, this is where I'm at, I hope to be done by morning. I'm on night shift at work so this is day time for me.
Nasty front oil seal, looks like the oil from the front bottom of the engine and oil pan, may have come from this.

Yeah, . I pu tit all back together, but it won't keep running. It starts for a split second (alittle shakey), then desiels another second, then dies. I think I go the destributor off one tooth. I kept the sway bar off just incase this happened. Its advanced one tooth. I'm going to drain the oil, pull the oil pump, while my friend holds the distributor, then retard it on tooth.

I'm positive I put the timing chain on the exact teeth it came off. But its still naging(sp?) at my brain that it might not be right. Its annoying that it did work the first time.

Well we moved the distributor, and its idling great now. It started smoking alot, till it warmed up. It smelled like normal exhaust. The exhaust manifold to exhaust, were I replaced a gasket, smoked for a little while then slowly stopped. We let it idle for about 15-20 minutes, just watching everything. The temp gauge is not working. I checked the sensor on the thermostat housing. The metal clip and plastic holding it, broke off when I took it off. It was very brittle(sp?). I pushed it in and had Chris (car owner) look at the gauge and nothing. We drove it around for a few minutes listening. Coolant and everything seem fine. No leaks. So he is going to take it to Bills Datsuns to get the temp gauge worked out tomorrow.
I'd like to thank you guys for helping in this project. THANK YOU!

Tom

Cool, have any pix and specs, milage, auto/5sp, 2 seater or 2+2, N/A? My dad just moved to Fort Langley. Not to far from you. He works in Aldergrove. I'll be visiting him in the next month, maybe I could check it out.
