Rear Caliper options?
Rear Caliper options?
i was wondering if the later 280zx has a different rear caliper than what i have.
i have the style where the out side of the caliper makes a H shape and the across of that H goes across the back of the pad, 2 pins go through the calipers and the top corners of the pads and theres a springy metal thingy that goes from one pin to another and put pressure across the tops of the pads.
its kinda....very old school, wouldnt be supprised if this was another hold over part like the floating ball power steering or the EGR but no O2 things i have.
or if there was a direct swap that would be easy too
i changed the pads but they still drag and squak and make all sorts of noise
edit:
why dont we just make it all 4 calipers
and its an early 79, i dont plan on making it 5 lug and i was hoping to be able to use the existing suspension

All 280zx's have the same front calipers. The 79-81 has one style rear, the 82-83 has another style, which are not interchangeable by themselves. The 82-83 has the ability for a 240sx rear caliper upgrade. Search for that... been talked about a lot.
If you use wheel adapters / spacers, you can upgrade to 4 piston Toyota fronts.

wait what the 82 can have a 240sx caliper? im gonna look now, the racecar needs new rear stuff. im gonna go jsk fronts, and was gonna keep 82 stock rears, but if i can get a little bit more out back to match the fronts better, oooo boy im gonna be happy.
ok so i did a little more reading up on it, i dont want to do 300zx hubs because the shocks arent inside of the springs and that would make for a hell of a time fabbing stuff up.
is it a pretty simple swap?
i am wonderin if i could get away with some sort of adaptor or something else. i must go junk yard hunting!

i dont know if you had them over there but i've read you can do a r31 skyline rear brake conversion, it may be the same as the 240sx i'm not sure. I'm curently trying to find part numbers to see what the go is
