Opinion on doing my rear end?

I managed to get my hands on a genuine ZXR spoiler, to put on my Turbo. I was intending to do some custom circular taillight replacements as well. However, I am trying to decide what to do with my rear bumper (I intend to keep my original front bumper and no body kit). Originally, I planned to do a "roll-under" rear end, where I remove the original bumper and just "roll" the bodywork from the taillights to the underside (think how 1st gen Z's look with their rear bumpers removed and smoothed over). However, given the large width/overhang of the ZXR whaletail spoiler, I am trying to figure if that'd still look ok with a "rolled under" rear end, or, if I should keep the original rear bumper, since the original rear bumper juts out about the same length as the spoiler.

Btw, does anyone know which bumper ('79-81, or '82-83) sticks out farther past the body? I'm really not a big fan of big ol' rear bumpers jutting out. I like the compact 240Z rear bumpers ok, but too bad those probably wouldn't be wide enough for a ZX. Anywho, I'm contemplating switching from my '82 bumpers to the '79-81's, for a more "classic" look, and also, I didn't like how the '82 bumpers extended to the wheel wells (I realize it was to coordinate with the black side molding, but I'm removing those off the the sides/doors).

If I had some photoshopping skills, I'd try and illustrate what I'm talking about, but unfortunately, I don't.

If one bumper sticks out further than the other, it is probably within a quarter inch of each other. I like the more modern look of the 82-83 bumpers. Or, go for the MSA fiberglass bodykit. It smooths things out but does not make the bumper any shorter.

While on the freeway to work, I heard thunking, like small metal objects bouncing off my undercarriage. Everything seemed ok until I stepped on the brakes. When I did, the steering wheel would jerk left! I managed to keep control and get where I was going, but I think it was a TC rod on the left suspension snapped! I hear it's not something that usually breaks, but it snapped clean in half. No idea how that happened, but I hear the urethane bushings, put in by the previous owner, probably helped finish the rod off. ^^

Anywho, I've decided to go ahead with the "roll-under" look for the rear end of my Turbo. I'll be taking it in to the body shop in a couple days. Hopefully it'll be out in time for my high school reunion next month!
