They were on the cougars first. Then shelby borrowed them to fit onto the 67-68 Shelbys along with a different rear panel and a decklid with an incorporated spoiler.

someone posted up some pics of a 280ZX with the previous generation of Mustang taillights (99-04/5???). It actually looked really I good I thought. It was a white ZX. In fact, if memory serves me correct, it was 007 that posted those pics/link

I love how these look but it would take a ton of work to get them in there. As you can see the whole rear panel has been reworked to be "flush" with the rest of the rear and the lisence plate is "frenched" in.

The reason i like the round taillight swap so much is that I will only have to fab up 2 pieces to cover up the holes where the original lights were and then bolt the new ones right onto there. Cant get much easier than that...

These wouldn't look too bad if it wasn't for the stupid backup light... (for the new mustang)

I personally can't stand those Mustang tail lights on that 280zx. I totally give props to the guy that did it (I think he's a HybridZ'er?), because he's got some skill, but it looks like a bug-eyed alien. Those lights are way too big for the back panel.... which looks like it's 2 inches thick with bondo.

I know some people just want a different look, but I love the 280zx tail lights, especially the 79-81 simple style.
