newbie help plz
Hey everyone, i got my '76z from my father in law while i was deployed with the military. now that i'm back i'm dieing to try it out but it wont start. I'm pretty sure it's the starter that's gone bad. Problem is i live in rural ga and i can't find any part stores around here that carry them. They have told me they can order it from $70 up to $180. Just getting out of the military i'm on a tight budget. Are there any catalogs or anything that have decently priced parts. This is going to be my daily driver, but i want to try and switch to a turbo. Does anybody know of a turbo block and wireing harnes for sale, or any idea where i can look. Thanks for any help.
If you don't have that much money at all, check on this and other Z-car web sites for people parting out cars in your area or nationwide. A start shouldn't be too much to ship.
$70+ is the going rate for those things. You can get a Genuine Nissan starter for $97 + core online at nissanparts.cc
gotta have the part numbers though. 23300-N5903R
The direct-drive starter is less, only $51 but you dont' want that for an L28. Those are for the 4-cyl L-series and some early 240Z's had them. 23300-U0101R
Online I think people pay $15-30 for them used. If its just the solinoid, can you "rebuild" it? I haven't ever tried, but who knows. Kinda like putting new brushes in an alternator to try to squeeze one more year of life out of it!

starter that I found
pep boys has a rebuilt starter for a 260z for $35.
I don't know if the one for the 280 is the same price or not.
Ask the clerk at the back in the parts department to check on the computer because the chances are that they don't have one at your location. I will buy my starter there when I get my z.
