My Defrost doesn't work

Re: My Defrost doesn't work
What year car do you have?
Is it the fan motor that is not turning on, or is it that your air flows out the vents toward you and not up at the windshield where you want it?
If it is a 75-78 Z, most likely there is an air leak. Those cars have a large plastic canister in front of the battery. That canister holds air vaccumme and pulls some levers to aim air up at the ducts for defrost. Mine had an old hose that was leaking. Replacing the air hose to that canister fixed the problem.

Re: My Defrost doesn't work
Damn you guys are good. I have this exact problem in my 78Z and was about to ask about it. Must have read my mind. My problem is that the fan is working (i hear and feel it) but the air flow to the windshield is very light. Also the lever won't move all the way over to the defrost setting. Feels like something is in the way. I hate to have to take the whole dashboard apart.
Any ideas? I will definitely check the vacuum bottle and hose when I get home today. Can I buy a new hose at autozone or do I have to order one from MotorSports?

The hose is generic. You can buy a small reel of hose. I think its the same size of hose for the vaccume advance on your distributor.
As for the lever not moving all the way, please do open up your dash. You just need to take out the lower part, not the actual dashboard. One of those levers might be bent from someone forcing it or the cables might need some lubrication. You'll be so happy once it is all working smoothly.
