help please
i have a radiator hose leak and i burnt my hand but now i don't know where to find the other side of the hose. it's the one that goes in past the firewall or at least it looks that way but i drove her and she was amazing no problems other than my tires are slicker than **** and she spun out on me twice, but all in all a good day
the two hoses that connect to the firewall? yeah they DO go to the inside so guess where you'll find them? ON THE INSIDE! they go to the heater core thats under your dash. have fun getting to it its a chore. but you can replace the hoses that are in the engine bay and um DUH you dont play with engines till they are cool. kinda of a rule of thumb.
i know that but the tear in the hose was exposed and the water shot out from the hose and onto my hand and then i got a rag and pressed it over the tear so that it wouldn't wet the engine.
.........are you serious? I sure hope its just that you don't know how to type that is making you sound so ig-nant.
if you have a spewing coolant leak, you don't try to plug it with your hand. You turn off the engine.

It's understandable that you're still learning, but some of the things you say & do always make me wonder if you are kidding, because it's hard to believe someone would do that. You really need to pick up some basic auto repair books & get a good foundation of knowledge. Learning by trial & error is fun and all... but actual research & reading is more effective.
just to give you the lesson that would be appropriate here, the major bit that would have prevented your little burn: water spewing all over the engine bay doesn't necessarily hurt anything. it just makes a puke-smelling mess to clean up. you should have just let it cool off, and take note of where the bad hose was. putting your hand on it doesn't help any.
and why whould putting your hand over it help you find out why air was coming out? air was coming out because it's under pressure... i didn't put my hand on it...

i'd say that probably every body that works with mechanisms and thinks mechanically learns better hands on. you already have a good idea of what the engine looks like and basically how it functions, so you should be able to read a book with lots of pictures and get a good idea of how to actually work on them. or work on something simple like a four stroke dirt bike or a british car. you can find them for free every where and they are super easy to get running without spending more then $50. it's a priceless learning experience
But actually getting burnt doesn't necessarily need to be part of the "learning experience." You make it sound like the only way to learn is by making tons of mistakes.
Anyway... it's your body. I'm done preaching.

Hey, if you're cool with getting your hands burnt, and eventually chopped off, go for it.
