Unclear from your post but I assume the car isn't starting, just clicking. There's a solenoid for the starter that clicks. If your battery is old or poorly connected (bad cables) that could be one cause. Your battery isn't cranking your starter now. Get your battery load tested or just replace it - and check or replace your battery cables and terminals. Get it running to see if your new alternator is putting out the charge your system needs to hold at full potential.

Bad electrical power is a common problem with Zs. You need firm, solid connections at every point in the battery/alt system, hookups that won't vibrate loose over the miles. Cheap terminals and worn cables are a common cause for this. Replace them. If you replace your battery, get one that puts out more cold cranking amps than you need. Check your FSM for that number.

well said zxguy. Freddie did you perchance take the positive battery lead off the starter whilst dinking with the alternator?

Tighten belt

You probably didn't get the fan belt tight enough, you would be surprised how tight Nissan has the drive belts, only a couple of centimeters deflection. You need to put your battery on a charger, get it charged back up, then you will be charging when you are driving again(as long as it was just a loose belt), or your new alternator is a lemon, it happens !
