Bumper Bummer!

Motorsport auto liists the three piece bumper for around $350.
You might need brackets ($52). With all the other pieces, ends rubber guards etc. it could be $600. When a 2300 lb. car gets hit by a 3800 lb. car, things you don't see bend. Have your car checked by an frame expert. A friend of mine had a minor tap on the back of his Porsche. After it was "fixed", he wore out a set of tires in 5000 miles. You have "classic car damage". Since your in California your neck hurts too right? Don't let a claims adjuster bullshit you into thinking all you need is a bumper!

A salvage title is when a car is totaled by the insurance company, and sold for salvage, something you want to avoid. The sole purpose of a claims adjusters is to save the insurance company money, not to help you! Play hardball with them to get your car properly repaired. You can get an appraisal of what it is worth on line or from an independent if you need to. Don't be afraid to tell them your back hurts but all you want is to get you car fixed. You can expect to be lied to.

I just realized that my rubber bumper covers are the same price as your whole bumper!

The hydralics in the mounts will give at 2 mph so the are now shot.
I wasn't aware the 240's came with hydralic mounts? I know the 260's and 280's do.

If your not concerned with originality, I'd by a fiberglass bumper from MSA, possibly a front one too. They won't do squat if you get hit again, but they're much cheaper at about $150 a piece. Plius it gives the car a really clean look without the multi-piece construction, or the bumper gaurds.

Some tard in a BMW pulled out in front of me from oncoming traffic while I was going 40mph. I couldn't stop in time (40mph and 50 feet distance) so i cut to the right, and slid against his front end. Damaged my front suspension, bent in my spindle, so that was toast. Also totalled my fender, headlight bucket, bumper, and dinged the rim.

I got 1700 for the body and 1000 for suspension. Pocketed 1300 from that.

$2300! that's not good. The more it costs to repair the car, the more likely they are to total it. If your car is worth only 2500-3000 then its probably totalled and they'll try to give you $2000 for it.

If you're car is in really good shape, shop around for 240Z's like yours in your area. Tell them you want them to replace it and all those other comparable Zs cost $3500-$5000. Either they buy you one of those cars or get yours repaired for $2300. not that they'll listen to you, but you could mention it.

I can see now it's not just the bumper. I looks like it in the picture though. I hope you get it fixed.
