Turbo swaps or upgrades. Do a swap versus slapping a turbo on the n/a motor.

Your car - brand new - had 150hp and the 280's are known for being the lightest of all the s30's.

Most civics in from the early 2000's have like 105-120hp.

280's are the heaviest of the s30's due to increased safety standards.

Block and heads aren't the issue, it's the ring lands in the N/A motor that are.

TBH if you aren't having someone build it and aren't doing a complete swap I would just swap in a a different motor, you should ask Nismo how much he has in his motor and how much power he's making.

To be completely honest, your best bet for cheap reliable power is a vg30et with a holset, supra injectors, nistune and a intercooler and clutch. That would be more then capable of your goals and you wouldn't have to touch the motor.

Pretty hard to give you an exact number as the cost of the motor, extra parts, and labor / time will vary.

The fab work cost itself would be about the same as swapping in an RB. Price depends on where you get parts, complete vg30et's can be had under $400 and entire driving donor cars can be had for a few hundred more, that and after you have pulled the harness, engine and anything else you want/sell you can get a couple hundred back from scrapping the car at a recycling center or on craigslist.

To do it correctly, you're looking at a minimum of $8 - $10g just for the drive train..
