Won't start

I just replaced my points style distributor with an electric now I have spark like crazy (shocked myself fairly good) but, it won't start. I put it at TDCC and tried but even when I turn the distributor nothing changes, choke in or out nothing changes. hasn't had fresh gas put in for at least a year but it ran six months ago (that's the last I ran it) Any advice?

Even if your timing is off you should get some kind of response. Drain the 1+ year old gas and put in some new 92 octane. Is it getting fuel to the carbs?I've done that swap and it was easy. Of course it was already running with the old dizzy. When you ask technical questions it helps if you say what car you have.

yes it was an easy swap, and it did run previously. I'm pretty sure it's just the gas at this point. i'm going to drain and put new gas in it later this week. Will post results.

Shoot some starting fluid to verify if it is gas or not before you do anything. Much easier then draining gas!

its also surprisingly easy to stick the distributor on 180 degrees off, or the cap, or rotor, or wires in the wrong order. check all of those.

Definately spray some start fluid before draining the gas and make sure the fuel pressure is good. good luck.

actually because the distributor is off center its almost impossible to put in 180 out. the cap and rotor is a different story but they are good. drained the gas today it was the color of beer.
