Auto Trans. years that will fit 1972 z

I have a 1972 z with an L26 engine and an auto trans that is toast. It's my wife's car which means she wants to keep it an automatic. As I begin to rummage around in search of a used automatic trans., up to what year can I look and still have a straight forward bolt in project without much modification needing done? Thanks

I don't mean to be picky, but I don't think you will find a 1969 with A/T.
For one thing, there were fewer than 600 produced in 1969.

I've been "Z-Watching" for over 40 years, and the lowest VIN Z I have
ever seen personally with A/T is HLS30-09210, production date would be
late 8/70 or early 9/70. Carl Beck told me about VIN HLS30-07969, which
is an 8/70 production.

FWIW,................Rick

I've seen them in person. There is a guy in florida who has one of the lowest vin's besides the nissan museum with a build date of 7/69. Hell half the 240z's I've worked on have had build dates lower 8/70. Not to be a *****, but if you have been "z watching" maybe you should watch a little harder.

Also not to mention the guy who gave the 69-93 dates where generalizing that any z car with a strait z will have a trans that will bolt up.
