Weber Carbs!!

How does one go about tuning the dual weber carbs? I got my rear end done and now I need to get my carbs tuned in and get it ready for driving.

I can`t wait, I feel like a schoolgirl.

So I am trying to tune in my Z and having a hell of a time. It idles really rough but I finally got it idling. Now I need an answer, Do these carbs run as standalone or is one a primary and the other a secondary? When it idling I got fuel into one and none in the other, when I give it throttle fuel into both and it runs like a raped ape. I am really confused.

Nevermind guys, I was frustrated and didnt take the time to see the 2 manifolds. I got it going now. My number 2 carb, the closest to the firewall, had the idle screw run all the way in. So after running that out some, a few minor cable adjustments and a little bit of fine tuning it sounds pretty, well as pretty as something without exhaust can sound. I`ll be test driving it as soon as The neighbor is home to move his jeep and I`ll let you know how it runs.

I must say it is a unique experience trying to tune by ear a car that runs two carbs, you kinda gotta listen to two sets of pistons. I love this car.

If I remember right the down draft webers each have a primary and secondary. Anyway, first you have to get an air flow balance. You can do this with an air flow meter or take the play out of the linkage so both carbs start to open at the same time (engine off). Then you can dial in the idle jets by cloing one down until it starts to stall and back off 1/4 turn. Do the same for the other. Repeat this untill it runs smooth. If that doesn't help you may have to rebuild them.
