Weber Carbs
I am contemplating purchasing a set of used Weber 38/40mm carbs, new filters and gaskets installed. They appear to be in excellent condition, however being new to the mechanics of Z's, I would like some advice as to if these are a good match on a 74260 with a stock L26 in it? I know i will need to purchase a new manifold, anything else? Thanks!

Re: Weber Carbs
ZLishous,
I would really recommend that you go with SU's. Not the SMOG square SU's that were originally stock on the 73,74 Z. Try checking out www.Ztherapy.com and giving them a call for SU's. If you can afford their price of getting them redone. They really sell a nice set of carbs.
If not try finding a used set of early SU's in the classifieds on Zdriver.com, or Zcar.com, maybe even Ebay.com. From there you can purchase a rebuild and tune video from Ztherapy, and I think get a rebuild kit for around 100. Webers are harder to tune, and probably would be a waste on a stock engine. So in my opinion SU's would be the best choice for you.

Re: Weber Carbs
Thanks y, I already have a pair of 72 240 su's on her, so you think i would not gain alot horsepower with the Webers (which is what I am looking for)? My car is pretty quick with the su's, but I am looking for an easy "pick me up". Your thoughts??

Re: Weber Carbs
I have though about this before, and asked the same question, but the gist of the response is this:- All webers do is supply more fuel, on a stock engine you don't need more fuel, the SU's can supply it fine, so there is no point in upgrading to webers- That's what i got from it anyway

Re: Weber Carbs
Fact is that most of the 'high' powered NA Zeds use triple Webbers/Mikunis/dellorto Carbies. For a standard engine It would be overkill, but on a decently modified engine I am sure it would make a big difference
