Need Assistance with Resto-Please help!
I recently was given a 1977 Datsun 280z that has been stored in a garage for the past 7 years. The listed mileage is 57,000 undocumented. The car was not running, I changed the battery, cables and starter. The car starts, but white smoke and water is coming from the exhaust. Plus some brown slug. If possible can someone give me some suggestions on what could be the problem. Hopefully during this resto, I would like to swap the engine(any suggestions). I was thinking about an LS1, Nissan GTR or Nissan Skyline Turbo. Also I would like to purchase some rims 17x8. Will they fit or do I need to modify the spring and struts/shocks? Plus any suspension suggestions (stock or modify). New to the resto game. Thanks!

Welcome to ZDriver!
Got any pics of the beast?
Also, feel free to search. All your questions have been covered in detail on our site. The Skyline engines are RB25DETT, RB26DETT, RB30... etc.

more slices to go around, but seriously the RB26DETT, twin overhead cam, twin turbo is a more common monster, You can build an RB30DETT by using the heads off an RB26DETT, but from what Ive read, its not a motor imported to the USA, maybe an auzzie setup
for reference you can start with Nissan RB engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
