a little assistance please

Looking for a little help. My friend has a 1988 Nissan 300ZX Turbo. I have been trying to find the perfect birthday present for him. He loves this car. Currently the items he wishes to receive are a new turbo(his doesn't work), he wants to lower it and he said something about a short shift?!? I have no idea what I am doing and would love some advice. I have been all over and keep getting conflicting stories about prices and where to buy stuff and brands.....any thoughts?

Got a price range you're willing to spend?

In that case, you can get both a short shifter and the lowering springs.

May I recommend the ST springs for lowering it.
http://www.thespecshop.com has very competetive prices on them.

For the short shifter, just about any short shifter made for the 240SX will work. Find one on e-bay. The only one I know will not work in his transmission is the B&M.
http://www.ebay.com seems to be the cheapest place.

Ok I found some short shifters on e-bay. When I look at the pictures of the parts it seems that some come with a lot more stuff...Do I need to purchase the packages with all the parts? I found a couple I liked better and they are for an 84-89 240SX ...will this work? I know I am probably asking dumb questions but I don't want to screw this up. Thanks in advance!

there shouldn't be any advertized as 84-89. The 240SX was from 89-98. There was a 200SX from 84-88. I'm not entirely sure if the shifter is the same or not.

You could always try giving him the money and specifiying what he can spend t on? Or go shopping with him for the parts.. so he can choose what is right for the car.

some z parts sites also do gift cards, so you might want to look into that.
