Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and get the engine. If the one I have goes bad I will have a backup on hand. In the meanwhile, I can work on this one and learn some stuff.

FYI, the actual hp on the L24 is 127 at the flywheel. They measured it differently back then. I don't think you can do "all" the work yourself unless you own a machine shop. I've gone into auto machine shops locally and when I tell them what I have and want they look at me like I just stepped out of a spaceship. The L2.4 is 146 cubic inches. If you want 300 at the flywheel you will need a lot of work, turbo and nitrous. With that you will have the same power to weight ratio as a LT1 Corvette (7.8). Your trans and diff won't last long. Mo $$$$$
