distrubtior problem
I went to go start my '74 260Z today with no luck after her sitting for about a month. She did fire the first time, ran very rough for about 2 minuets, then suddenly died. It wouldn't rev past 3400 rpm or so. I guessed it was the distrubitor and took off the cap- everything "looks" fine, but I'm not sure. I thinking the timing is off. I also think I have the spark plug wires connected in the wrong locations- if anyone can get a diagram of the possitions that would be a life saver.
Another question- how do i tune the distrubitor and the vacuum advance? I have heard a lot of talk about it and it could possibly be my problem- but i haven't worken on carb/distrubitor vehicles too much and I have no clue how to tune them. Please help!!!

i have a firing order pic for you, and the chilton manual i have says"the 1974 electronic ignition cannot be tested using conventional equipment. it must be checked by the dealer with datsun/nissan-made transistor ignition unit tester. the only alternative available to the home mechanic is a substitutiontest of the control unit. if a unit known to be good operates correctly in the vehicle, the old unit is presumably faulty. this method is far from satisfactory: it ignores all of the associated systems and can result in a protracted and needless watse of money and time. Its is strongly recommended that problems with the 1974 ignition system be reffered to your dealer." i know it is probably hard to get your z to the dealer, but it is the most sound advice i can give, good luck!
