Hi, I am new to this forum and z cars, but I have always been an enthusiast. I recently bought a 78 280 with an add on turbo. The engine is stock. I have to smog the car in California and I am worried that it won't pass because it idles at about 1000 rpm. The car runs great no problems what so ever. The engine compartment is clean the only thing is that they deleted the a/c. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to ZDriver!
Is 1k idle too high? Usually the limits are ~750-1200 rpm. I'd be more worried about the aftermarket turbo setup not being "stock".
Got any pics of the engine bay?

Was the Z ever BAR'ed. its a 78 and not smogged exempt. i have a friend who did a turbo swap in his 78 and had it BAR'ed. he basically did the turbo swap with all the smog equipment intact and brought it to a smog referee and he slapped a sticker on his car allowing it to be smogged in Ca. THe Referee will pretty much tell you what your missing and what youll need to get your car up to Ca emission laws.
