78 280Z does not get power

Ok so the other day my car just stops driving completely like it has no power at all.

I replaced all the fuses in my kick panel and its still not getting power, so i replace the battery and it started, then i am driving down the road and the car completely shuts off, try jumping it and all that happens while hooked up to a jumper cable is the voltmeter bounces around when i hit the brake pedal till it loses all response...i now cannot get anything coming through from the battery area, brand new battery btw...not quite sure what is going on, but need as many simple things to test as i can as my car is sitting in a Chilis parking lot right now.

Thanks

Hey Dave! Welcome back!

The battery eh? I wonder who told you to replace it? And the battery terminals are on tight? No corrosion?

PS... sorry I missed your calls last night... my friggin cell was on silent. Some friend huh!

well i removed and rearranged the fuseable links then jump started it and it started right up, so i then replaced the battery thinking i had the issue resolved and then the car went completly dead while driving now it wont even jump

thats what my guess woulda been cause think about it. it works when you try to jump it or change the battery (aka the cables get f'ed with) and then it stops working again till the next. sounds cable related.
