1979 280zx custom intake manifold

Greetings all,

I i am in the process of restoring my 79 280zx and am in the need of a intake manifold that can connect to a big bore throttle body. I purchased the throttle body from here: Motorsport! Performance Throttle Body, 75-80 280Z-280ZX - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts
However when bolted to the old intake manifold the airflow pathway is reduced to the original size, cancelling the performance effect of the new throttle.

Is there anyone who sells or make custom manifolds that can support the newer single line fuel rail system? I have pictures of the new throttle and fuel rail on my restoration blog: My 280zx if anyone knows how i can solve my problem please help! https://www.zdriver.com/forums/images/smilies/100.gif

Thank you!

Welcome to ZDriver!

You don't need a new intake manifold... you just need to bore the intake throttle body neck. We've discussed many times. Also (just an FYI since you've already bought the MSA TB) you can easily adapt the KA24DE / SR20DE 60mm throttle body to the L28 intake neck. They are plentiful in junk yards and can be had for $$free99 to around $30.

For the n/a, a 60mm TB doesn't do much by itself since you are just pushing around the bottleneck. You should also swap AFM guts for the larger turbo AFM body.
