Conflicting Information Help
Hey... I spent the day yesterday, going through the box of miscellaneous items I got from the seller, cleaning and making sure it all worked when I came across the manufactures plate that he had removed. So I did the research on it, and one number does not come out right on this car. First, let me tell you that the brake master cylinder research I did does indicate this to be a series II car, and the title says, 1971. It has a five speed which is not correct, but, also has a second drive shaft in the parts extras meaning they had one custom made for the five speed and the four speed one is a left over. All that being said, here is the problem that I hope someone can explain away...
On the plate, it has stamped, month and year.... 8/ 71 with and then further down below is the HLS30 - 41858
So. what's the problem? According to the website on production numbers, I found this tidbit of information.... 1971 = 40,219
It doesn't fit... further.... after I look back at the metal plate, it looks like the 8 in the 8 / 71 is stamped quite hard, and the 71 is more/less etched....
Further down, the 41 in the 41858 is heavier stamped than the 858...
Any thoughts about all this appreciated... and, I will try to get the engine number today to maybe shed a little light on what I have.... but for now, it looks/appears to be a 240Z produced in August of 1971 and a Series II...
