MEDIA ADVISORY:

Thursday Night Street Wars and GlobePC.com Show 'n' Go Friday
at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway cancelled due to excessive
heat;

Saturday's Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series late-night
Pajama Party NOT CANCELLED

LAS VEGAS -- Thursday Night Street Wars and Show 'n' Go Friday at The
Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway have been cancelled due to extreme
heat. Temperatures in Las Vegas have exceeded 110 degrees.
Saturday night's Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series
late-night Pajama Party has not been cancelled. The event will start
one hour later to allow for air and track temperatures to cool. Gates
will open at 6 p.m. Time trials will begin at 9 p.m. and eliminations
will start after two time-trial runs (approximately 11:30 p.m.).
"We have cancelled Thursday and Friday night's races in the interest of
safety for fans and racers. With temperatures expected to reach 115 on
both days, it would not be safe for our guests to spend long periods of
time outdoors and there is no way for us to safely race on a track with
a surface temperature in excess of 150 degrees," said Chris Blair, LVMS
senior director of drag racing operations.
"Moving the starting time back one hour on Saturday evening will enable
us to wait until the track is properly shaded before we begin our
track-cooling and race prep. It was necessary to cancel the Thursday
and Friday night events as our schedule and the work schedules of our
racers would not allow us to start at the later times. By concentrating
our efforts on Saturday's Pajama Party Classic we believe we will be
providing our racers and fans with a much better - and safer - racing
experience."
Fans who wear their pajamas to Saturday night's event will be
admitted for just $3.00. In addition to prize money and a trophy, the
winners in each of the five Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing
Series classes also will receive an LVMS bathrobe and teddy bear during
the early-morning victory lane ceremonies.
For more information, contact The Strip at LVMS at (702)
632-8213 or visit www.lvms.com or www.lvmsstrip.com.

No burnouts needed to get tires up to temp.
