rear camber

rear camber

so my rear tires are in dire need of camber adjustment so I bought the rear camber arms and toe adjusters by SPC and they should be here tomorrow. what specs should I give the alignment guys for a happy medium between the track and drag racing? drag you want a camber of 0, so your tire is straight up and down. right now they are far from that. noted, my track tires are 17" and drags are 18" - does that mean the camber may be diff for each tire? i think i'll end up with a semi-track setting, that can be neutralized somewhat by raising my rear springs.
anyone recommend a good alignment place? that can also install the camber arms?

Im in the same spot as you, I just lowered my car and the camber is way off.. I dont want to eat up my new rear tires. Im trying to figure out what camber kit to get. Can anyone really tell me the difference between say... Ebay and SPC? for the most part, they both do the same job right?? any imput? Being broke sucks, but I want to get this fixed so I dont spend another pretty penny for new tires in 5000 miles.

I'm running 3 degrees in the rear but I'm set up mainly for the track. If you want to balance between track and drag racing I'd look at going to 1.5 degrees then take it to the drag strip and see how well you hook up. I'f you're still looking good then add a little more.

3 degrees is actually a little high and I wouldn't recommend if especially if you drive your car every day. You will definitely get some uneven tire wear.

The SPC is only $200 - I figured it wasn't too much more for knowing it will work and having a warranty. It's been proven on my350z.

Aarif - The difference between eBay and SPC is that SPC wont break and will fit right lol.

Rob - See if you can get two different settings and mark it on the camber arms. One at 0 degrees and one a say -3 degrees. I know a few guys on the forums do that and change the camber when they change between street & track tires.

Addition to Aarif - Since you don't track or race your ride, I'd strongly suggest you take it back to Nissan (Planet will do it) and have them set your camber and alignment back to factory specifications. You don't need the SPC camber/toe adjuster; you'd just be wasting money. You can get the alignment/camber adjustment done for $99 + tax, get your car washed, and then get it back in about an hour and a half.

I've been there. They are low tech, but do pretty good work.

I think ill go to georges too... I got that recommendation also.. im gunna do my brakes, change my tires and then go for my alignment

went by there this morning after installing my new SPC camber arms last night. basically, right now my rear is at 3 degrees, and the front is at 2.5 degrees. the guy said come back after i want to get a street setting, but right now i'm set great for the track. no changes made.
no charge.... how often does that happen? dealerships charge you for driving on their property.

The guys at Georges are way cool. I paid for my first alignment but they said that I could come back for free adjustments if I didn't like the way it was behaving at the track.

So Im really debating on getting a camber kit. I have some pretty bad negative camber. But getting an alignment can fix this?? Just looking I dont see how getting an alignment can fix this negative camber. I want it back at 0 camber because Im putting new tires on and I dont want them ate up. So.. question is, buy camber kit or not?

do it. i got the SPC kit and installed it myself with no problem. around $200.
