I know they are talking about this over on 350zmotoring, but I wanted to know what you guys are planning to do when gas prices hit the +$4.00 mark over the summer? I'm seriously considering getting a bike a making the 9 mile trip to work by pedal.

i might just buy a 600cc bike. 4.00 will probably take a few people off the road, or at least lower the amount of time they spend on the road.

$10 bucks says that around the middle of 2007 we'll see a big drop in gas prices....you know....just around the election corner.

its already above 4.00 in some places. I pay more than that for the gas that goes in the Z now . I couldn't get around without a car so I will have to deal with it I guess.

That's the exact reason why gas prices are soaring... because they know we can't live without fuel. Did you see the stats after hurricane Katrina? Oil companies made the most profit ever... obviously they aren't concerned about the customer. IMO this is just the beginning, so my Z has become a weekend recreation car now... and my 20mpg Bimmer will have to sit as well.
Kinda like Zrolimit, I'm gettin a midsized streetbike!

I have a motorcycle(Kawasaki Vulcan 500 ). I plan on riding it ALOT this summer. I wish I lived close enough to work that I could ride a bicycle. I drive 70 miles a day round trip, which is about $120 every two weeks for gas. I work as a loss prevention detective in retail....it hurts.

Well I don't have a big azz house and have a hard enough time saving money without them jacking up petro prices. But yeah, some of these guys aren't gonna feel the pinch as bad as the rest of us might.

30 miles each way to work and back. My only other option atm is a gas guzzling SUV I own. My work schedule varies so car-pooling isn't an option either.

I spent a few years in Europe. Anything less than 5 bucks a gallon is ok with me. That's what I was paying there.

I might get a small motorcycle. Something cheezy. Or maybe an old 1988 Honda Spree (jk, you really will not see me on that). But for real, my wife and I were just talking about this last night, we just bought an 05 Pathfinder in August and we are already considering trading it for a Toyoto something or other and taking a hit on the value. Its getting obsurd. We both spend $50 a week on gas, that $400 a month for both of us. Also, since I put in my turbos, I noticed that on the highway my mileage is great, in the city I am probably only getting 7-10mpg in the Z. And thats not even getting into boost very much.

Everybody... just buy a mid 90's econo car like Honduh (bite my tongue), Toyota, Hyundai (bite my tongue x2), Geo, Saturn, etc... Then the gas guzzler can come out on the weekends. I drive a 97 Saturn SL2 to work w/ the wifie everyday.

We're still paying $2.70/gal here in Germany... except that we use gas coupons in which we pay US prices. If they don't keep the prices down here for the service members, it's almost impossible for us to get to work without fuel (reason being that most if not all of us live lots of miles away from base, which is a necessity rather than a choice).

Unfortunately, not yet. It's still in ocean transit. If it fell off the boat, they better let me know so I can get the paperwork started on an R33.
