n/a => TT project
ok theres probably been posts on how to do this etc. n how it is costly. well im savin up the money n lookin at 5g for the swap itself. i have came up to 2 conclusions, now if u guys can, please help me chose the better one.
1. USDM VG30DETT used with bout 40kmiles or so, doing the swap right in, getting a new front fascia for IC piping.
2. JDM 1990 fairlady z32 front clip, with JDM front fascia n all.
Questions are a) Would the engine mount properly and all besides from the IC piping in the n/a with the vg30dett? and b) is the front clip swap more cost efficient and easier than the motor swap itself?

ps i have done a LOT of research on this, and the reason y i do not wanna sell my n/a n buy a tt is cuz of insurance, and the 2+2 TT aspect

Well, the jdm front clip would be more appealing if it was '99 or newer. The hot style right now is the newer '99 jdm front fascia.
Can you get the stand-alone engine with the wiring harness and the ECU? If not, then I'd say go with the front clip. If that's all included then I'd say go with the motor only. If you have an engine stand, take some time and mod the motor while it's outta the car. No rush to put it in right away, right?
Besides, if you go that route, you're still gonna need the IC, larger radiator, tt tranny, and so on.
If you go the front clip route, I still say wait until you can mod the engine more. Like I always say, it'll be easier to do with the engine out of the car and with the clip you'll have everything you'll need to run 'right outta the box'. But upgrading certain parts will be more difficult later.
I'd rather mod first and still have a running car, then do swap, have down time without the car, upgrade later and have more down time w/o the car again.
Up to you, cuz ultimately it's always your decision.

My opinion is that you are sitting on an NA 2+2 without enough power. The basic hurdle is the 9 to 1 compression. The engine blocks, whether NA or TT are exactly the same part number in the Nissan cross reference. You are baffled by 1) cost, 2) availability of a front clip, and 3) the insurance. So let me answer in reverse order. The insurance cost would be a lot less than the $5K investment. 2+2 TT cars are currently available in Canada.
Front clip would be necessary for many of the parts you seek.
The cost would be incremental to how rigid you are in building this hybrid monster. I would suggest you obtain all the conversion parts, including larger intercoolers and add the TT gear to your present NA Engine. There is a '93 Turbo Z32 convertible here in PA sporting a single turbo on an NA engine. He is stating that with the specific large single turbo, and intercoolers he has a dyno chart at 562 rwhp. Not Bad. There is a guy in AZ who added a single turbo to an earlier SOHC Z engine and has a dyno chart stating 450 hp. There is another option called a VG30DET single turbo engine from JDM sources which is already single turbo and can be 'had' from importers for approximatley $800 to 1200.
