i jus finished a 2 1/4" straight pipe
im gonna do the 60mm TB and turbo AFM (bigger) and KN so hopefuly that gets it into smoother running shape....building a cruiser so if i get it to the stock HP rating that it was 20 years ago ill be happy
cam would be a great start....

Yes, the rest of the intake is a bottleneck, mainly the AFM.

First of all, even a turbo AFM looks to be about the same size opening as a stock throttle body... so, you be the judge. But going with everything larger will help. One thing I have also heard is to use a 3-series BMW AFM from about '84-92 they are a 2.5L 6-cyl with Bosch fuel injection like our Z's. Normally aspired already so you use the electronics that are already inside. All they need is a little richness adjustment and the opening is supposivly larger than even the 280zx turbo AFM! (I have not verified this) used BMW parts cost more, so maybe you can steal one.

As for the tubes/boots maybe make some custom ones out of PVC or aluminum so that you maintain a smooth transition from one device to the next through the intake. Dont' forget to port match the intake manifold.
