1979 Zx 30k

Ok, I'm new to this. Got this ZX from my 82 year old aunt. original owner 30k. Sat in the garage for the last 2 years. After all the preliminary preps, it fired right up and idled to warm up. Went to back it out, it quit and wouldn't restart. The "fusable link" that goes to radio, guages, and who knows what else was fried. replaced that but still doesn't fire, although the radio and guages do. Somebody help!!! It's too nice to sit in the garage for another 2 years!!!

Welcome to ZDriver!

You mean the FUSE that is on the side panel passenger side right? The fusible links are for ignition and efi circuits in a box by the battery. Anyway, when a motor won't start it's one or more of these three things:

1... no spark
2... improper fuel (too much / not enough)
3... no air

It's usually #1 or #2...

Curious, does the engine even turn when you tried to restart it? If not I'd say check your cable wires. If it does, go with Nismo......hehe, he's so smart.

Definitely need to know if the engine turns over. Does it just click when you try to start it? How old is the battery? The fact that it ran once is a very good sign. Most likely you've just got a bad electrical connection somewhere.

The engine turns over great. New Battery. The fusible link (on the wheelwell passenger side) that did the meltdown was on the right side looking down) all FUSES in the panel were OK. Good Spark.

Sorry the color of the car is BROWN (ick).....not lime green

did you change the fuel filter? try dumping some fuel into the intake manifold, it wnt run for long, but it gives you hope! listen for the fuel pump, also while cranking, give the fuel pump (mounted on right framerail) a little whack with a hammer.
