Really rough, then dead
Hey, y'all-
I just replaced my cap, rotor, and plugs after driving into a deep puddle and stalling out. We shot the water out of the valves after becoming submerged, but now my car idles rough between 500 and 1000rpms then dies. I have plenty of juice after replacing the battery as well. the car sounds like a freaking Harley prior to dying- sputtering and bad smell of burning gasoline. any ideas on how to remedy the stalling/roughness?

This isnt necessarilt ignition related. If you got all the water out of the distributor and it runs at all, the ignition is probably fine. Now its time to inspect, clean, and replace every electrical connector under the hood. when replacing connectors, remember to clean the terminals on everything you dont replace. Dont be afraid of the dielectric grease either, it will keep the connectors from corroding again. For cleaning, start with WD 40 and wiggle the connectors on and off a bunch, that will bust most of the heavy stuff. Then get after it with a little pick and electric parts cleaner, then compressed air, then dielectric grease.
