little 240sx update

Alright fellas, got the chance to work on my "project" 240sx this past Monday. Managed to get the remaining 1/4 tank of bad, and i mean bad fuel out of the tank. This stuff was dark **** yellow and lost all its "fuel" smell, also changed the fuel filter on it as well. Flushed out the old coolant, or i should say water...wanted to put some coolant flush through but lack of gas and a battery prevent the car from even attempting to start right now.

As for the old fuel filter, when i removed it, the fuel that came out of it was pretty much straight brown, and when i tried to blow through it only a very small trickle of fuel came out, possibly why the car wouldn't idle without dying before...but i guess we'll see once i get the alternator on...

Also, tried to accomplish the Alternator install, as it was removed to be tested (before i purchased the car), and had the bracket in the hatch. popped my head under the car and there seemed to already be a bracket in place and no where resembling a mounting spot for the bracket that was in the hatch. I'm missing the bolts as well. Is there an install guide around, sadly i've had no luck finding one. Hopefully with some fresh fuel, the new filter, and the alternator installed she will actually run!

probably not much diff than any other alternator. search the sx forums i guess. but really, un-do teh battery terminals so there no current in the system, undo the connections from the back of the alternator, loosen the belt slip it off unbolt it from the bracket and then put new on back up

well, i'd be able to do it if the alternator was already there, but the alternator is off the car and the bracket is too, so i don't know the proper way to remount it. It was like this before i bought it so, i wasnt able to see it before hand to know how to put it back together

You could also ask about the mounting of the alternator on jstuners.com, the board owner goes by 2liter_turbo. He has a 240SX with the SR20DET, and his brothers both own 240SX's I believe with the stock engines, so he could most likely email you a pic of the stock mounting.
