zMax

i searched and found a 1990 300zx for sale that had a zMax treatment but thats it...

http://www.zmax.com/

i saw today that zMax is being promoted by carol shelby so now i know this stuff has to be good!!!

but is it really? i saw a demonstration where a small amout was poured into a hole on a small metal block and you could see the metal absorbing the lubricant (with tv magic) so i wonder, is it worth putting in a 27 year old car?

zMax boasts...

-Increased Gas Mileage (helps maintain gas mileage in newer cars, and helps improve or restore gas mileage in older cars, by virtue of reducing engine deposits)

-Improved Performance

-Extended Engine Life

-Reduced Emissions (helps maintain emissions in newer cars, and reduce emissions in older cars, by virtue of reducing engine deposits )

-Increased Horsepower

all that sounds good to me, and carol shelby

the reports contridict one another and most of those are for new cars, not early 80's Z cars... other wise, i know how google works but thanks for the effort,

BE BE AGGRESSIVE!!!

A million reviews not good enough?

Here's the Government review: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2001/02/zmax1.shtm

According to the FTC, the CRC L38 test is a standard auto industry tool to measure the bearing corrosion protection properties of motor oils. In February/March 1997, an independent laboratory performed two CRC L38 tests of zMax for Speedway and Oil Chem. In those tests, motor oil treated with zMax produced more than twice as much bearing corrosion as motor oil alone. The complaint also states that the defendants fabricated one "report" from the two test reports, eliminating the bearing corrosion results and all other negative test results, and then used that report and the "official laboratory results" - similarly edited to remove detrimental data results - as sales tools in the infomercial and on the zMax Web site.
EDIT...

You're also about 10 years too late in asking this question.

i've ran both zMax and lucas, and i prefer lucas. zMax is good stuff, just doesn't give the boost of lucas. haven't tried the oil treatment though.

zmax is crap, get lucas, also when you get offered say about 5-10mil to appear in a commercial i think you would call their product great too, it works, but its a waste of money. i prefer products that are advertised by word of mouth (like MMO, redline, lucas..etc) who dont need to have a huge ad campaign to get their product known.

So...
Oil companies spend billions of dollars a year to make their formula the best.
And you're telling me that a few dollars worth of additives will take all of their testing and research and make it better? Wouldn't the companies add it in the first place o.O
