Worst two days ever

I've killed two cars in two days.

First I blew my headgasket in the Z and then my dad's struts snapped while I was driving his Galant.

Shiite happens... I doubt you personally had much to do w/ the struts snapping tho... unless you hit a curb or massive hole.

Headgasket... sucks, but whattayado. You sure it's blown?

Yeah, oil is leaking everywhere...fuel injections all messed up to the injectors are drowned in gas.

True, btw sorry I never sent the number thing this happened to me and then I forgot about it. Will try tomorrow though, assuming you haven't gotten it yet.

Still makes me angry though, both cars are gone. They're are only transportation...I know the Galant wasn't my fault, but it's a really crappy coincidence.

you gonna fix the Z ? if not it would be a good parts car for the 260. temp 5 speed tranny. might be a cleaner diff than teh one im sending you. etc. could swap the fuel tanks. though not needed, i hear suggested.

Yeah, thats what I decided on doing. I ranted about it on hybridz yesterday and thats what I was going to do. My 5 speed is kinda messed up though, I drove for a while with no clutch...And I got an early model 280zx if I'm correct it's a R180 differential.

I've been thinking about the fuel tank, I read that on zhome. Main problem for me right now is some ******* stole my tools or I'd fix up the headgasket for now.

I'm probably gonna strip it down to a shell and take all the goodies and give it to someone who will take care of it. It's got a near mint black interior, the only thing thats not that great is the dash.

Indeed yours would have an R200, but not all 280zx's have them.

So how did you blow the headgasket? Overheat the car?

As far as the 280ZXs go a headgasket repair would be ridiculously easy compared to pulling the heads on a 300ZX. One head, and it comes off relatively easy. Heck you could even leave the manifolds on when you pull the head and then take them off outside of the car.

Indeed. That's usually the easiest way... especially if you still have the a/c compressor. Otherwise you'll spend A LONG TIME getting to the front bottom exhaust manifold studs.

snw, sounds like you're getting set up for a huge let-down! things never go that well for long! and bummer on your cars ray. those gallant struts must suck. my friends gallant is always squatting and bumping. but he has a parts car, so PM me if you want me to check up on pulling them off for you. i'm sure they could go quite cheap, if you can't get to a junk yard or something.

Galant is now running.

Next up is the Z, though I'm feeling pretty lazy and don't want to waste money on tools until I have snw's 260 paid off.

I don't remember having much trouble with getting to the front bottom exhaust manifold studs with the A/C compressor in place. I remember once I got the intake manifold off it was pretty easy to get to everything.

something will go bad. maybe it won't be with the girl, but when things go that well for me, my timing belt snaps... metaphorically
