well i agree that riding between cars in traffic is not right however if it is legal where you live i do not see the problem. but that is only in california.
i believe that only the motorcycles with air cooled engines should be allowed to ride between cars to keep from overheating. which is why you can in california cause the cops back in the day had to keep moving in traffic to not overheat. and cops must abide by the laws too.
i have been in many situations in both cars and motorcycles. on saturday night i was run off the road in my z by a snowbird changing lanes without a signal and coming over very fast. if i was on my bike it would have hurt. i think riding motorcycle is perfectly fine if eveyone would watch wtf they were doing but they dont and i was tired of nocking out windows so i got a z.
i always carried an emergency window hammer velcrowed to my tank for the drivers that wated to just move over without looking. shattering glass really wakes them up and pay attention to the road and not their flucking phone.

i think the way to sum up the idea that "idiots shouldn't ride them" is to just make regulations stricter. one, maybe two acts on a bike of just plain blatant law breaking (excessive speeding, cutting in and out, wheelies in congested areas, ext.), and you bike gets taken and given to me so i can go do all that stuff except way out in the middle of no where..... i mean..... so they can get sold to pay of 100 trillion dollar debt....

ok it all boils down to no matter how safe you are and how carefully you drive there will always be some dumbass in a different vehicle that doesnt deserve to be in a car at all, that also goes for motorcycles. I personally have never had an accident, but i have been very close to a couple, usually not my fault. The only thing you can do is watch out for other people, and avoid them. there will always be someone in a hurry that is speeding and weaving in and out of traffic, the cops are supposed to prevent this or stop it but they are not always around..... So i blame it on the cops LOL

I just saw someone almost run a bike off the road, in slow wide open traffic. Idiot driver in the car was probably old and uses only the side mirror to look (if at all)

Luckily the biker was paying attention and slammed on his brakes.

My dad has been a biker since the late 60's. He's been in a couple serious accidents. Both were by someone running a red light/stop sign. he hasn't been in an acciddent since the early 80's though. he drives a Harley and doesn't do the weaving through traffic. Loud pipes save lives.

you should paint that bike snw. it would look so much better...... black. it's not ugly by any means, it's just not a very flattering color.

Everyone should be required to ride a motorcycle for a year before they are allowed to get behind a more powerful killing machine like a car...

There are some assclowns out there in all vehicles. I would rather see some idiot on a motorcycle than in a car any day. They don't scare me a bit.

I stay ahead of traffic because it keeps me safe. You have to ride aggressive. When I split lanes, I am doing nothing but taking less space on the road so you are actually closer to your destination not waiting for me. When I split lanes, it slows NO one down. When a car cuts someone off it causes jams. I don't cut people off. And, I don't give them a chance to hit me. I am aggressive. Been pulled over by motorcycle cops, and they agreed with my riding for "merging too fast". Just wanted to check the bike out for papers.

I am against laws saying people have to wear helmets or seatbelts.
We need some good population control.

You should grow a pair and ride a motorcycle on the street for a few years like I have ZLover. It would open your eyes. Nice to see you can judge a whole group of people for something you dislike.

You come off sounding like a troll with your statements.

While we are at it..

I think all Pickup trucks should be banned, or require a special license and or environmental impact tax.

Damn hippies.

Leave the dangerous stuff in the world. It's the only thing keeping us from over-population, and killing each other because everything else that's fun is gone.

pickups are very handy. SUV's should be banned. pickups only for hauling. sport cars for weekends and compacts/bikes for daily. Zlover isnt a troll i dont think you hang around his posts enough he is a good guy, just a bit mislead on this subject imho. but its all opinions. i like the idea for population control though. haha.

No. I know he is not a troll. Just that if he had say... 3 posts, and came up with that statement, then most would assume he was.

He's a good guy. But, statements like that get on my nerves.
Just hit that soft spot. I am getting ready to retire my Z for a short time, while things are tight, and I have no job.
The Z need tires, clutch, master cylinder for the brakes, and now the venturis in for my number 1 weber carb. Can't afford to fix the car, so I will get some tires for the motorcycle and be back on the road with it through the winter.

I love my motorcycle, even more than the Z perhaps. It's been more of my life any way. More fun on that than I could ever have in a car. Some people just don't understand.

Don't like closed minds. There is no excuse for a closed mind.

Funny... I'm the admitted misanthrope, but you're the one saying more people need to die.

My dad rode... dumped it on an oil slick and f*cked up my mom's leg in the process. Cars don't do that (he sold the bike immediately afterward and never looked back). My brother rode... was in a minor collision with a car at a stop sign intersection... had some bad neck and back trouble afterward (he was wearing a helmet). The same accident in a car and he would've gotten out, laughed about it with the other driver, and drove off. Sold the bike afterward and never regretted it. My sister's friend rode... hit a curb, landed on his head, and died when his brain swelled and they couldn't relieve enough pressure. Cars don't do that. Why would I want to get on a machine that has a higher probability of ruining lives? Why don't we all go play Russian Roulette while we're at it? I have every right to dislike motorcycles - they've never had a positive effect on my life. (Same reason I think cigarettes should be banned.)

People often need to be saved from themselves... arguing from natural selection only, you're right. Let them die (keep in mind, you'd be saying the same about yourself). Speaking from a humanist point of view (something I rarely do, but considering it's what governments are supposed to do, it's the more pertinent argument for this conversation), my argument is valid.

Did you think I'd disagree with this statement? I think large vehicles should require different licensing, considering how different it is to drive them (and how many people don't manage it very well). Environmental impact tax? I'd have to think about it, but it doesn't sound like a horrible idea - good way to channel more money into solving environmental problems.

(Personally, I'd get rid of NASCAR or tax them higher for their fuel consumption and spend that money on alternative fuel development - such a huge waste of gas to watch dozens of similar fuel-inefficient cars drive in a damn oval. Leave the other racing [F1, Baja, LeMan's, etc], but NASCAR is the bastard offspring of real racing and is quite unnecessary on the grand scheme of things.)

Btw, I'm not closed-minded. I wanted a sport bike for a long time. Then I thought about it rationally. Virtually no cargo and no safety. And I don't want to become one of those people who actually believe it's ok to split traffic and ride on the shoulder to get ahead of traffic (it seems like it's an infection that spreads through most riders).
