theres a few ppl that go to 90mm but that's really pushing it

You can also have it resleeved, but then you would have to start looking at external coolant/oil passages.

I dont want to go about resleeving the block needlessly. but I'm still blown away but people running such a thin sleeve. I think theres something missing here.

the higher you go in power/performance the lower down your reliability\longevity goes

That depends on how well you build it, I used to have a sbc that would regularly see 8400RPM and the temp would be anywhere from 200-270 and it lasted 8 years before a screw came out of the carb butterflies and ended up being punched through the deck of the cylinder head. When we pulled it apart, everything looked beautiful like the day it was put together. (minus the fact that everything was covered in water/oil milkshake. Everything about an engine build depends on the person who builds it.

I have seen some WILD sbc setups that are going on the 10+ year mark without ever being cracked open except for something like a timing set needing replaced and they are all pushing withing 3psi of what they originally pushed when they where first built!

I just need to wait for the books i ordered to get here already so I can get some more information. I'm not going to resleeve the block unless it actually NEEDS it.

There is a compromise between the two tho. But so long as your not extremely pushing the limits of the parts your using it will last a very long time, if taken care of of course. Build it right with tight tolerances, and a very good balanced job, with the right hardware and it will last a long time.

Part of the reason I dont want to resleeve my block. it will make it a little bit weaker.

Hey Blue, I have a better idea, howsabout building reliable midpower L28s, instead of insane HP L28s. Like 220-260hp N/As, and like 300-350 Turbos.

And then build only one Devil Z and sell it for someones soul.

Blocks, cranks, and rods. looking for the right pistons or piston design right now. Were starting from the bottom up. And then we're starting into the head work.

Strong wrist pins, thick dome and lighter then hell. Those are the three things you need to pay attention to when spec'ing pistons for an N/A build.

I can run at 15k RPM all day long on my R1 on cali pump gas without an issue at a weak *** 12.6:1 C/R. This is the type of piston you should be looking for..
