Um... there's nothing special about them... H4's are just a lil more bright.

My friend converted to h4 on his Corolla, and calling them just a lil more bright is huge understatement. I recently spent $50 on Silverstars only to be dissapointed my the color, and the brightness.

Are you trying to get the look of HID's? Because nothing but HID's will get you that brightness. I had a set of H4's... great upgrade over stockers, but I've since upgraded to HID's & projectors.

So HID's are better (brighter) than H4's?

yeah... about 4.2 billion times. I like to call SilverStars and H4's the "ricers HIDs."

So you have upgraded to HID on any Z car? Do you have to upgrade the wiring harness for extra voltage or something?? I have no clue when it comes to electronics.

HIDs are a lot different than conventional headlights. HID = high intensity discharge. They require balasts to power them. Also the light they emit is different & require projectors to focus the beam (which looks absolutely sick!). You can buy HID kits for $150 - $400... then just custom install them to your car.

EDIT... I got my HIDs from a wrecked 2000 BMW 540i and projectors from an Infinity J30... I've had to do a lot of custom work, but it will look good.

So is there somewhere that has a complete conversion kit?? And how would I hook up the balast?
Oh, do you have pics of your progress?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-X...01301543QQrdZ1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Japan...05165183QQrdZ1

projectors included
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-05...04386771QQrdZ1

this is what the projectors do (notice the cut off line)

and there's about 6000 other listings on ebay, or you can buy kits from a lot of shops / parts suppliers.

To wire them up, you need a relay. You can use your own switch or just use the stock switch to activate the relay.

Interesting. So how does the high beam work in this setup?

Good question... that's a lil "too under the radar" on my project... still in the works, but I'll just say that it will be something like the setup of that Ford GT.

heay like this kid said, you just gonna make a mount that fits the headlight hole and then get like the bucket covers from MSA er something... i think that might be tight, specially if they are teh tinted ones.

So I could buy these lights, and put in a HID bulb in place of the ones that come with it, since it has a projector??http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSU...16571576QQrdZ1

We had a thread about those headlights not too long ago: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...ight=projector

During my HID install I found out that the distance from the bulb to the focal point is VERY important. You'd prolly have to do some custom work to make the HID bulbs focus correctly in those headlights.

and here's a pic or two of mine:

warming up:

Thats sweet. So, I'll wait until I get a second car before I put weeks of work into my headlights. But now I get the idea.

One more question though..... do the headlight covers cause the light to bend into different directions, or does the light just go through the plastic without being disturbed??
