Is it possible to put a Turbo on a 1990 300zx n/a?
Because and engine swap is to expensive for me.
j/w if i could do that instead.
if not can you give me a list of things to do to a 300zx n/a
for a increase of speed?

yeah to sum it up, in order for this car to take "a turbo", there is too much other stuff that needs to change to allow it to be that easy. also, the standard for these cars is twin turbos. single turbo set ups are rare and controversial as to whether or not they are worth the effort.

so yeah, to get blown you're looking at around $4k as an absolute minimum if you get all the parts used and stock. it's really not the way to go. your best bet is to sell the N/A and buy a tt.

... do this...

... it wasn't even a week before he posted back on TT.NET asking for info about swapping a TT motor into his car... he had blown his engine.

We hold these truths to be self-evident:
There is no easy way to put a turbo on a naturally aspirated motor and have it be reliable.
High compression naturally aspirated motors will not last long with boost.

Everyone I know of who has tried putting a turbo on a VG30DE has ended up blowing the engine.

I have heard stories that you can mount a turbo to your exhaust pipes !

So if this guy wants a twin turbo he might want to buy the very best turbos and mount them to his exhaust !

Im just joking!

ok how the HELL did he route the exhaust from the sides of the block all the way up to there? and no intercoolers? err... intercooler? sheesh, probably did nothing for engine management either, or better fuel in general. it could probably be done, but the non forged internals and high compression on the NA's make it not worth it, they will reach their limit to fast on boost and in the end cost the same or more to turbo it than to just sell and buy a TT.

it looks like most turbo race setups minus the fact that it lacks an intercooler... and a good intake system lo

EDIT*** hell the more i look at it the more i like it, it wouldn't be too hard to put an intercooler on that, you would have to just avoid ever puddle of water there is on the road...

its a terrible idea. however i bet that thing had no lag! lol, with the headers so long to reach that not so big turbo with the 3.0L displacement and high compression. haha.

Ignoring the fact that the MAF isn't designed to withstand 200+ degree temperatures, which is easily how hot the air coming from a turbocharger can be...

Not that it would help a lot, but the MAS should have the air drawn through it not pushed through it.

... the MAF simply *shouldn't* have hot air going through it... whether pulled or pushed. Not to mention, in terms of air flow, it doesn't matter if it's pulled or pushed.
