Trouble with transmission/clutch alignment
Trouble with transmission/clutch alignment
Hello, I am new to the forum and Nissans. Few months ago I bought a 1990 300zx na with a blown clutch as a project car. Took the transmission out just fine, replaced the rear main seal and put in a centerforce dual friction clutch and forenza flywheel. I aligned the clutch and tried to put the transmission back in. The shaft from the transmission goes in but stops about an inch from being all the way in to bolt up. I cannot get it in, ive had jacks under the motor, front of the transmission, middle and back. Tried about every single angle possible. I've down many transmissions (all American car) before and I am just stumped about why it will not go in all the way. Basically I need some help, thanks.
Yes, the flywheel went on kind of tight but that's not going to get in the way of the shaft. The only other thing I can think of is I used a universal alignment tool because the clutch kit didn't come with an alignment tool which was weird and maybe it didn't align perfect but it seems pretty good. The shaft will go in through the clutch just fine but yea about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch it stops and won't go further from being flush with the back of the engine.
