Transmission Problems
Transmission Problems
Please help
, the last few days i've noticed my car has been a little slow shifting up and seems to like the rpm limiter even at mild accellerations (Is automatic transmission), and yesterday and today it seems to not want to shift out of first at all unless I put it into 2nd then back into drive for 3rd... anyone have any idea what this could be?

Depends on how much u get a tranny for. The rest of the stuff is a minimal cost really. I saw a tranny on ebay go for like 500 bucks the other day or something crazy like that. Depends if you go used or new... The best thing to do is find one in a junk yard (a 300zx that is) and take what u need from it. Well i'm not gonna say best, but you canget the pedal ect ect there.
Guys, did I forget anythign on that list of stuff you need?

I have a tranny clutch and Flywheel combo for 550$
I have a front clip at home, I can give you all teh pedals and stuff from that (pedals, Brake booster, Clutch master cylinder, Clutch lines, Slave cylinder) it;s RHD so you will need to do some bending on teh lines. (or buy used ones) for uh 150$ then when I get my other front clip that is suppose to come in soon. I can give you all shifter linkage with shifter and michevious parts for 50$
so let;s say 750$ + shipping for everithing. complete manual swap.

Don't bother.....more trouble than it's worth. It'd be easier to sell the car you have a buy one with a 5 sp. Bardabe likes to do things the hard way.

I don't recall him asking about doing a swap in an S14.
This is Zdriver, not S14 driver.
Only 7 hours to complete the entire job???......Sorry, but...........B.S. 10PM to 5AM,....who the hell works on a car at that time???
Was this before or after you broke your leg slamming the clutch while street racing your Z at the age of 14?
It's the return of 'Tall Tale Bardabe'.

I swapped to a NA subframe during that job as well
. I agree with Bardabe in that the hardest part (other than decyphering the auto wire harness) was drilling the hole in the firewall with the engine in place (tight clearance-not much room to work). Dont mess with the stock clutch line/booster setup when you can just get a steel braided line and not deal with that headache. So...steel braided cluth line, clutch, 5spd mission, brake and clutch pedals, clutch master cylinder, tranny fluid, brake fluid, pilot bushing, a new throwout bearing, and clutch fork pivot...oh!...perfect time for rear main seal!! if you dont change the rearend dont worry about the driveshaft. driveshaft and auto ECU will work for both setups <= very cool!**sell your car for one with a 5spd...sounds like a paperwork headache---or do the 5spd swap yourself learning your car more, hummmn dont like paper cuts

well... looks like my tranny is done for... gonna have to rebuild or replace, looks like my best option atm is a rebuild... this is gonna set me back a pretty penny
... guess im gonna have to wait on redoing all the interior leather

You could also call up Greg Dupree with Specialty Z and see how much he'll charge to rebuild your existing tranny. He does VERY nice work on these! Charles' has taken a lot of beating and it's still running strong! It also got him into the low 11s.
Well, finally got my baby back from the transmission shop today... and I must say the rebuild with the upgraded components makes it crispy crisp in the shifts! it shifts like in a 3rd of the time as it did before, it idles smooth as butta, and it shifts at just before the rpm limiter when I have the pedal to the floor... it cost me 2343.07 (OUCH
) but its because Me = Noob when it comes to messing with a tranny... it turns out proper maintenance was not done on the tranny the last few years, (aka the last owner who had his "car knowledgable" friends do the maint on it... atleast as far as I know they got everything else right, just didnt change the tranny fluid every 20k...) but apparently some of the clutches were burned and warped which was causing the slippage and not shifting above 2nd... well this hurt the wallet, but now my baby is purring like a content kitten and accelerates/shifts noticably quicker
