1990 300zx

Just bought a 1990 300zx for 3200. the car is to me in great shape. the only problem that i have noticed is that 2500 and below it has a hesitation, almost like a missfire? i replaced the generic plugs with iridium and replaced the fuel filter. does anyone have any ides as to what may cause this? any help would be much apprecitated. I had to get another z car since the head gasket blew on my 85 300zx.

I think i have the hesitation problem solved. i noticed it would run fine until the engine got warm. i checked all connections and they all looked good except (you guessed it) the WATER TEMP SWITCH. yep it was pretty gunked up and after cleaning it the hesitation is gone and it pulls harder thru the gears.
