transmission issues

i recently bought a 92 300z NA auto that had transmission issues, it would not upshift while in drive and slip. so i bought a jdm TT auto and that wouldnt work because the driveshaft wouldnt fit, got another one from a USDM car, installed it and the car would go into park fine, reverse fine neutral fine but slip like mad in drive go in 2 fine but not up shift, and 1 slip almost as bad as drive, so pulled it for another one, this one wont go into reverse and when i put it into neutral the car wont budge. i know there is some adjustment in the shifter linkages but is it enough where it would give me this much headache? any help is appreciated.

could be orque converter related or even computer, sounds like the vein system isnt functioning the way its supposed to, which can be by low fluid but im sure it isnt since you CHANGED the tranny. and in 2 it wont upshift for a reason, its in 2. lol means it wont shift past the second gear

the first time i used the stock convertor from the first transmission, the second time i used the one that came with the transmission. we filled the transmission till it was reading full on the transmission and used about 7 litres of atf.

i come from a domestic background even when we put our trans in 2 it upshifts, thanks for that explanation on the 300z trans.

the 300zx auto trans has a reputation for going bad and needing rebuilds.
i suggest that you either take it to a trans shop and have'em fix it or go with a manual trans swap.

well im more then capable of swapping trans, but what are the odds that two differnet transmissions going bad, the last one the guy swore it came out of a running vehicle and works fine. even when i unhook the linkage and shift it at the transmission it wont do anything in reverse or go backwards in neutral. goes into drive fine though. the original trans had what looked like melted wires, possible shorting out. would it have caused any issues to the powertrain control module? no engine lights.

did you fill it when teh car was running and in w/e gear it needs to be in, i think it needs to be on and w/e when you check the fluid levels on auto trannies
