I bought the car knowing the throwout bearing was bad because of the audible noise when the clutch wasn't pushed.

The other day I was getting on the highway in 3rd gear when a huge bang and clunking happened. I went to 4th gear and all was well. 5th also, then after 30 seconds 5 th went out. By the time I had got into a parking lot no gears will engage at all.

I had the car towed home.

When you engaged 1st gear the car will slowly move then will make an awful grinding noise.

Could someone help me further understand what happened and what will need to be replaced.

I'm pulling the transmission tonight in my driveway, what things should I look for? Do I need an entire transmission or was it the clutch or something else?

I've had a couple transmissions priced and one with warranty delivered in my driveway is around 700 bucks. Is this a good deal or should I junk yard one?

Simple. Pull the transmission and look to see what needs to be replaced. Can't answer that over the internet.
