Too rich, detonation or spark blowing out?
Too rich, detonation or spark blowing out?
Ok long story short my car sputters massively when I floor it, running 12psi, motor was built 10k ago. If I smoothly roll on it doesn't do it for the most part, problem is when I look at my af whenits doing this it is at 10.5, now the weird thing is that on high boost it doest it worse, new fuel pump, 550 injectors, dual intake... Can it detonate when being so rich, is he spark blowing out or is it just too rich? Help please!
How are you monitoring your A/F ratio?
And richness and detonation don't go together.
What kind of plugs do you have? Your symptoms sound like wrong (non-NGK) plugs, wrong heat range, or wrong gap.

Well if it's wideband, it's not the problem. (Many morons install narrowband gauges which steal their signal from O2 sensors [which are incapable of measuring beyond 'too rich' and 'too lean' and are thus useless to begin with] which interferes with the O2 reading the ECU gets, which will throw off A/F ratios. Funny how the ricer way of monitoring A/F ratios can actually mess up A/F ratios, isn't it?)
Test your fuel injectors. Since you say you have 550cc/min (I'm going to assume you mean 555cc/min, since I know of no company that makes 550cc/min injectors for our car), I suspect that means you have the old style injectors (new style don't come in 555cc/min either - they're actually 615cc/min). If you have the old style injectors, still, they are highly prone to premature failure.
Injectors should read 10-14ohms.
And if you do have a bad injector (or many), don't just go ordering direct replacements for them. If you don't absolutely need to fix it asap, come back and I'll explain your options (regarding ways to retrofit new style injectors). Else, do your research. Because if you leave the old style injectors in the car, you'll face frequent failure. (I replaced all six injectors in 2004, and had at least one die annually until 2009 when I sold the car.)

Coils seldom go bad. Boost leak testers are available by some member of twinturbo.net and can help you find any air leaks.
I'll post on the retrofit later - posting from my EVO 4G right now and my train ride is almost over.

Precisely. When off boost, the vacuum of the engine draws air through the leak which wouldn't be monitored by the MAF, thus running lean; under boost, metered air would escape through the leak, thus causing a rich condition.
