Timing Belt Change / Parts List
Timing Belt Change / Parts List
It's now that time to change the old timing belt. I've been shopping. Help me out on the attached list with any parts that I might have missed. I plan on changing anything and everything (maintainence wise) that I can get to with the upper plenum off. Are there any other parts that I can get to by removing the lower plenum while I'm in there? I also plan on cleaning out all of the egr tubes and passageways.
Any arguments, for or against my choice of parts? If they're not nissan, they're all name brands like gates, felpro, ntn, skf. Does anybody know the diameter of the by-pass hoses? I'm not buying the nissan hoses because, it appears, that most of them can be cut from straight hose at about $3 per foot.

Thanks, I was hopin' you'd come thru, It looks like there's only two of us here that work on our carz.
I just finished up putting in a new clutch in the kids '01 civic. Took like 11 hours. It's the first time I've been that deep into the driveline of a fwd car.
There are no broken connectors that I can see. Gauranteed that I'll break a couple along the way. I have the dielectric grease that I'll be adding to each connector as it's cleaned at re-install.

CC the only difference in your parts list and mine is the timing belt, but I see no problems. My findings is most after market people make there parts as good or better than OEM. (excluding cut rate parts)
I don't know what the big fuss is about changing the Tbelt. Just make sure the tensioner is done right and I see no problem, just takes time.
Years ago when I did my first one I followed the steps outlined in someones website in Texas and it worked out fine and now I just do it.
Have fun.

how about your iacv or aru? do you have any idle or hesitation? you might want to check the voltages on those while they are off

That was my point. A timing belt is a big job. There's a lot to mess up in there.

What's a aru?

aru=air regulatory unit...if you follow the big iacv hose around the backside, its connected to the aru
