I need to get an oil change done and i was wondering if I should start putting sythetic in it? I talked to nissan and they said they dont recommend it. But I want a second opinion...Its a 94 non-turbo engine. I know in my old 280ZXT, i stuck with regular oil and it always ran fine. Thanks

I switched to synthetic. Mobil 1 15/50. Probably the best oil around. You can switch at any time. Miles don't really matter. For a long time, people said that if you switch to synthetic in a high mile engine that the synthetic oil can penetrate the seals and cause oil leaks. There have been studies that support both sides of that argument. The synthetic does provide better protection. What you want to ask yourself is this....Do you care if there's a small spot of oil on your driveway? It's been 80k since I switched, and my car leaks very little. I'm happy with it. It's up to you.

I've heard both, It leaks, it doesn't leak.
So all you can do is try. The more expensive Mobil 1 is worth it.
I switched, no leaks. Mine's older with more miles too.

I Switched to Castrol Synthetic Blend. Car runs fine, doesnt leak.
